This does not make you a dirty rotten spammer so don’t even worry about that. People actually love to get useful email inviting them to shop and save at a store they like.
You will be asking for their email address for one of two reasons
A News Letter or Email Specials list
Each has its advantages and disadvantages. With a news letter you will need to take a little more time and write more of an article about what is going on with your business. Then include your specials and coupons.
With an email specials list you just send out a list of products and coupons you wish to advertise to your list. This can be viewed as a little impersonal by some people but they will not mind if you give them real value and your list contains some really good deals. Everyone loves a bargain.
So remember - Yes, people will sign up for your email list if they like your business and enjoy shopping with you.
We recommend setting up a kiosk in store
Setup an in store computer or small kiosk with an offer of email only specials if people sign up right there. You will be amazed and how quickly your email list grows with many ready to buy customers just waiting for your news letter or email only specials to hit their in box. It is like ringing the dinner bell and watching them come running and the best part is you don’t have to pay hundreds to the local radio station or news paper every time you use it.
